Shocking: Anybody that wants me dead should be ahead of me- Baba Suwe

Popular actor and comedian, Babatunde Omidina, a.k.a Baba Suwe has come out to debunk the rumour of his death, describing the development as wicked and insensitive. The news of the rumoured death spread like wildfire into social media space in the early hours of Friday.

Quite interestingly, Baba Suwe’s son Adesola Omidina who’s also an actor said his father was used to such rumours. In his own words with Sunday Scoop, he said, “We are grateful to God that my father is alive, that is what really counts for us. We cannot expect his health to be the way it used to be but he’s recovering daily. About death rumours, Baba Suwe is used to it because such rumours are peculiar to important personalities. The same was said about Chief Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi recently. If Obey can be a victim, who then is Baba Suwe? People were calling us all over the world to show their concern. Baba Suwe was not even worried or angry. Such reports are not new to him.” He also added that his father would be celebrating his birthday with close friends and family members.

The veteran actor himself expressed his feelings, saying that, “Anybody that wants me dead should be ahead of me and wait for me in heaven. It is very disturbing that people could wake up spreading false news about you, especially sensitive and wicked news at that. I am alive, I am well; I will be fine, I am not dead. I don’t think a dead man could be talking to you as I am right now”.

It would be recalled that the star actor who is a recipient of numerous awards had some health issues which made him to be flown to the United States of America in April 2019 for medical treatment after falling ill to diabetes. Good spirited Nigerians such as Rev Esther Ajayi and Prof Yemi Osinbajo, amongst others, supported the oversea medical treatment. Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo had on February 21, 2019, donated the sum of one million Naira to support the actor’s medical treatment while Rev. Esther Ajayi donated the sum of ten million naira some days after the VP’s donation.
