Appearing before the House of Representatives this afternoon July 20, 2020, Prof Kemebradikumo Daniel Pondei, the acting MD of NDDC was noticed to have fainted as he was being quizzed. This is really unbelievable. Could the man be pretending to avoid further questioning or was he really unconscious? Drama will never cease to end in Nigeria.
Below is the tweet from AIT News showing the video of how Prof Kemebradikumo fainted during the probe today in the House of Representatives.

You will agree that since the creation of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) by the former president Olusegun Obasanjo, those who have been in charge of the NDDC affairs have been South-South elites and the several allegations of corruption leveled against these people is worrisome. This is a pure description of what is known in local parlance as those who know you are the ones undoing you. The amount of money allegedly squandered runs into several unthinkable billions of naira. The House of Representatives and National Assembly, no doubt, have a lot of digging to carry out in the days ahead.
The recently sacked head of Interim Management Committee (IMC), Joy Nunieh made some striking and shocking allegations against the Minister of Niger Delta, Senator Godswill Akpabio. Some of the allegations were that:
- Senator Akpabio pressurized her to sack some staff of the NDDC.
- Senator Akpabio refused to allow her to have her official vehicle because she did not agree to connive with him
- She also alleged that the senator monitored her everywhere and that whenever she went to visit someone perceived to be an enemy of the senator, they would immediately call the senator and she would be asked to leave.
- She also alleged that files went missing immediately they started the verification of contract exercise and several other weighty allegations.
The same has been happening within the Nigerian National Development Corporation, NNPC. The House of Representatives has summoned the heads to appear before it. You will also recall that Nigerians have been promised shocking revelations that will be made known to the public even as the suspended EFCC boss is being investigated before the Ayo Salami panel. It seems this time is the probing season for the big boys in politics. Still expect more to come.
Speaking on the popular political program today on Raypower FM, Dr. Amaechi and others called on President Muhammadu Buhari to take decisive actions. They are of the opinion that if the Muhammadu Buhari led administration was indeed serious about fighting corruption, the Federal Executive Council, FEC should desist from approving contracts, as this was not constitutional. Not only that, but all our institutions should also have a regular system of reporting and there must be a political will to make all these institutions accountable. Furthermore, the ongoing NDDC probe against Prof Kemebradikumo Daniel Pondei should not just stop at changing leaderships but should be about digging out the issues and settling them, otherwise, subsequent leaderships will return to the status quo.
The political drama keeps unfolding on a daily basis in Nigeria and until the citizenry takes decisive actions, the situation may remain the same.
