N-power on their verified Twitter handle @npower_ng has announced the opening of their application for 2020.
“Dear Intending N-Power 2020 Applicants,
Here is how to prepare for the N-Power application.
- Portal opens 11.45 pm, June 26th, 2020.
- Application is FREE. Do NOT pay anyone to apply on the N-Power portal.
- Get a printout or accurate details of your BVN.”
The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development also put out the announcement that the new batch of N-Power beneficiaries will begin registration, June 26.
There’s a word of caution also:
“We understand some people have attempted registration. Please NOTE that your registration is null and void. It doesn’t count till the portal opens at 11.45 pm tonight.
“Following instructions are a vital component of the N-Power Programme. They are there to protect you.”
The N-power scheme, you may want to recall, is a vision of the Federal Government headed by President Muhammadu Buhari to uplift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty by creating opportunities that will enhance the productivity of the Nigerian youths for entrepreneurship. Also, the N-Power programme has enrolled 500,000 beneficiaries since inception in 2016. There were 200,000 beneficiaries from Batch A in September 2016 and 300,000 from Batch B in August 2018. The scheme, under the leadership of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, will receive applications, review them, and subsequently, publish a list of successful applicants in the coming days.
One ‘but’ which needs to be corrected is that this laudable has a good entry system but seems not to have a good exit plan. Quite a number of these beneficiaries ought to be staffed in various parastatals after the programme. Anyway, the Ministry did announce last week that the first batch will pass out June 30, 2020, and the second will exit the programme on July 31, 2020. It also states that they have plans already in place to metamorphose them into entrepreneurship. It is only hoped that this will be true so that these beneficiaries will truly be employed and brought out of poverty in line with the president’s vision.
